Rihanna has been making waves in the fashion industry as both an influencer and a designer. Heading up as Creative Director of women’s wear at PUMA – Riri presented her third collection as part of Paris Fashion Week FW17. With the likes of Future and DJ Mustard in attendance, detention style invites were sent out, tying into her “Fenty University” collection theme.

The multitalented singer and business woman literally shut down the whole of PaRIH with this new collection, using the public space of The National Library of France to present her FENTY X PUMA collection.

Using the library’s tables as the runway – reminiscent of the university theme, you could see that the looks represented a range of different tribes one would usually see in a classic school playground. From jocks in varsity track wear – to even an outfit which resembled it-girl Cher from Clueless, in true Rihanna fashion she incorporated her familiar touch of attitude and rebellion.

The clothes that stood out were the puffa jackets embossed with a varsity style ‘FS’ print, the electric blue lace-up over the knee boots rocked perfectly by London’s very own Leomie Anderson, and of course the plunging jumpsuit which resembled a classic v-neck prep-school jumper. The floor length reversible yellow puffa coat is another look I forecast to gain a lot of traction when released in Autumn later this year.

Stating that she’s “never been in love with a collection more than this one”, it’s clear that the artist is coming into her own as an acclaimed fashion designer. Rihanna truly is a force to be reckoned with.
