On Friday (10th March) I saw the image above posted across social media, it was an open invite for the A-COLD-WALL* installation that was being shown off at Harvey Nichols, Knightsbride from the 11th of March.
The installation was being shown off in the menswear section of the store, hanging on the rails close to Stone Island, Fear of God and Yeezy Season 3.
A piece of transparent acetate attached to one of the large metal trolleys read the message:
“A-COLD-WALL* presented by Samuel Ross
Highlighting various influences & references that can be found [through] A-COLD-WALL*’s choice [of] fabric texture, dye process and visual language.
A-COLD-WALL* presents it’s latest selection with a selection revised placements specifically for HARVEY NICHOLS Knightsbridge.”
Quickly you could see Samuel Ross’ vision behind the brand through the physical moodboard, the types of textures and objects which are interacted with daily by the underclass – The bricks and trolleys that would be used in their daily jobs.
Embedded within the installation were the ACW garments, which are part of the new RE-ALIGNED* collection. As usual the strong pieces with the mix of vinyl graphics, embroidery and span of colour tones, ranging from the dark blacks and greys to the warm oranges and beige’s, shone through. The collection included a number of t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and some joggers.
If you get the chance to head down to Knightsbridge I would definitely recommend checking out the installation and seeing the work of A-COLD-WALL*, especially if you intend to purchase something there whilst their online store is closed, stock is likely to sell pretty quickly.
